Welcome to Vancouver
Yes, I'm travelling on business again. This week, I'm in cloudy Vancouver. Getting to take a trip to Vancouver is pretty cool, as it allows me to mark off another Canadian province on my to-visit list. You see, one of my lifelong goals is to visit every province and territory in Canada. With B.C. now out of the way, I'm only missing Newfoundland/Labrador and all three of the territories.
So I got in mid-afternoon yesterday and took a taxi to the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel, which is a nice -- albeit expensive -- hotel right on the water (duh). It's also within walking distance of Gastown, so I took a trip to that little area after I unpacked and rested for a few minutes. I saw the steam-powered clock and the cobblestone-like streets. Very neat, although it's a little more modern than I had expected.
Then last night, I hooked up with another Toronto tech journalist, and we went drinking at some local spot. The place was basically the type of joint you go to with the sole intention of getting drunk. And, uh, yes, I did get a little drunk. I paid for it this morning. My itsy-bitsy hangover didn't disappear until after I'd eaten lunch.
So I'm heading out to dinner soon, so I'll sign off. Hi there to all the folks back in the GTA. I'll be home later in the week.
