Roleplaying as art?
For some time now, there's been an idea circulating throughout the gaming niche that the participation in roleplaying games is a form of art. It's not referring to the books themselves. It's referring to the act of playing. Since RPGs require the use of some acting, some drama and various other little bits and pieces that fall into artistic categories, I believe the argument is that what you are doing during gaming sessions is creating art.
It's a bizarre idea, and I don't think it's one that I agree with. I think RPGs can be more than just games, but I have a hard time defining them as art.
