I had the chance to play a couple of games of Heroscape last night while at Xavier's place. His friend Paul picked the game up on the way over and we opened it up, set up the first scenario's map and gave it a try. Unfortunately, Xavier watched while Paul and I played.
In the first game, we used the basic rules, and they were a little too basic. Paul utterly annihilated my little army (squad is probably a better way to put it). In the second game, we switched over to the advanced rules. Much better. And it came right down to the end, when our last remaining units duked it out. I won -- barely -- with a lone samurai survivor.
