Jacquie and I saw Spider-Man 3 on Sunday, and I've been thinking about how to comment on it. Unfortunately, everything I want to write about it would be ridden with spoilers, so I'll just put it this way: It's a disappointment. While it has some neat characters and some great action scenes, the plot and character motivations are a real let-down when compared to the first two.

Comments:
The best review I've seen of Spider Man 3 thus far goes as follows:

So, I saw Spider-Man 3 Monday afternoon. I am convinced that most of the complaints levelled against it are just complicated ways of saying, "I have trouble paying attention. Also, I am a humourless sack of hair and probably ugly."

And, please, shut up about the Jazz Club scene, people. "Since when could Peter play the piano and dance?"

1. Watch the second movie. Aunt May teaches piano. It is not unreasonable that she'd have taught Peter.

2. At the beginning of the dance sequence, Peter adopts a very Spider-Man-ish pose. It's a visual cue that he's using his super agility/reflexes. I mean, shit, do you ask, "Since when can Peter Parker fight?"

3. It's hilarious. Get over yourself, Captain Internet Hardass, and enjoy a movie.

Yeah the first and last paragraphs pretty much sum up my thoughts on it.

Nuff said.

See, it's that kind of consumer apathy that has given Jim Carrey a career.

This coming from the man who proudly owns a copy of Plan 9 and every single crappy superhero movie ever made...

And yet you won't hear me talk about them without being critical.

Really? Do you have Condor Man?
I haven't seen that movie in years ...
... and gods, please don't tell me you ever bought Captain America ...

Z.

No, I don't have Condo Man.

To my knowledge, the Captain America movie was never released on DVD.
